After-Birth Breastfeeding support

1:1 Personalized Breastfeeding Support

GENTLE GUIDANCE FOR THE EARLY DAYS. BECAUSE SUPPORT MATTERS MOST WHEN EVERYTHING IS NEW.

The early weeks after birth can feel like a whirlwind. Feeding your baby, healing, adjusting, and trying to make sense of all the new, it’s a lot. Even though breastfeeding is natural, it doesn’t always come naturally.

That’s where I come in.

In this 90-minute session, I’ll be by your side, virtually or in your home, offering calm, personalized support to help you and your baby find your rhythm.

This session if perfect if you..

Are unsure if your baby is latching well

Feel pain, frustration, or doubt when feeding

Worry about milk supply (too low or too much)

Need help with positioning or finding comfort while feeding

Want reassurance that things are going okay

Just need someone to listen and guide you through

What We’ll Do

Observe a feeding

If your baby is ready, I’ll gently observe a feeding and assess latch, positioning, and overall comfort, always with care and respect.

Hands-on help with latch & positioning

We’ll work together to make feeding more comfortable for both of you, using simple adjustments and techniques that suit your body and your baby.

Support for milk supply

Whether you’re concerned about having too little or too much, I’ll offer practical, personalized guidance to help balance and maintain your supply.

Answer all your questions

No question is too small. We’ll talk through whatever is on your mind, from nipple shields and pumping to feeding schedules and emotional overwhelm.

Follow-up resources

You’ll receive a summary of what we covered, plus tips, resources, and optional check-in recommendations.

Be assured, you´ll get the help & expertise you need

We’ll talk about your goals/struggles, then determine how I can help you and finally we’ll decide if this is the right direction for you right now.

“Breastfeeding is a learning process, for both you and your baby.”

how it works

Here’s how we’ll begin:

Personalized Plan & Follow-Up

After our session, you will receive a personalized breastfeeding plan. This plan is to help you and may need to change as your baby grows.

Ongoing Support as You Need It

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I book an after-birth consultation?

You can book this session anytime in the first few weeks after birth. Whether you’re just home from the hospital or a few weeks in and hitting some bumps, it’s never too early or too late to get support.

Is lactation consultant care reimbursed by Dutch health insurance?

Yes, but only through supplementary insurance (aanvullende verzekering). The basic health insurance does not cover lactation consultant services. Depending on your insurer and policy, you may be reimbursed between €80 and €300 per year.

To be eligible, the consultant must be IBCLC-certified and affiliated with the NVL. Some insurers may also require a referral from your GP or midwife. These costs do not count toward your deductible.

What if my baby isn’t feeding well yet?
That’s exactly why this session exists. If your baby isn’t latching, feeding frequently, or you’re unsure what’s normal, I’ll help assess what’s going on and guide you gently through the next steps.
I’m experiencing pain while feeding, can you help with that?
Yes, absolutely. Pain is common but not something you should “just get used to.” I’ll help identify the cause (often latch or positioning) and work with you to make feeding more comfortable.
Can we talk about pumping too?
Definitely. If you’re combining breastfeeding with pumping, exclusively pumping, or planning to return to work soon, we can include pump-related questions and techniques in your session.
Is this session available virtually?
Yes! You can choose between a virtual or in-home consultation (if you’re within my service area). Virtual support is just as personal and effective — we can still observe a feeding, talk through challenges, and make adjustments together.
Will I get follow-up support after the session?
You’ll receive a written summary of what we covered, and you’re always welcome to book a follow-up check-in if you need ongoing support. I’m here for the long haul, not just a one-time visit.

Need a little extra support as things change?

Breastfeeding isn’t one-size-fits-all — and as your baby grows, your needs might shift too. Whether you’re returning to work, starting to pump more often, or adjusting to new routines, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

A 30-minute check-in gives you space to ask questions, troubleshoot, and get clear, practical guidance — right when you need it most.
